Sliding Scale Fee Agreement and Non-Discrimination Policy

This document outlines the terms and conditions under which Kaur Reflections, owned and operated by Jashanpreet Kaur Gill, provides psychotherapy services on a sliding scale fee basis. It also serves to establish transparency and compliance with applicable laws and professional standards, protecting Kaur Reflections from any claims or disputes related to fee structures.

By engaging in services with Kaur Reflections, clients acknowledge and agree to the terms specified in this agreement.

1. Purpose of Sliding Scale Fees

Kaur Reflections is committed to making psychotherapy services accessible to individuals who may face financial barriers. To fulfill this commitment, we offer a sliding scale fee structure based on household income and financial need. This initiative is part of our mission to contribute to the well-being of the community and does not reflect any form of discrimination or preferential treatment.

The standard fee for psychotherapy services is $150 per session. Adjustments to this fee are made solely based on the financial need of the client, as determined by the criteria outlined in this document.

2. Eligibility Criteria for Sliding Scale Fees

Eligibility for reduced or free services is determined through a confidential review of the client's financial circumstances. Clients requesting reduced fees may be required to provide supporting documentation, such as:

• Proof of household income (e.g., pay stubs, tax returns, or government benefit statements)
• A written statement explaining financial need
• Documentation of unemployment or other financial hardship

Kaur Reflections reserves the right to approve or deny sliding scale requests at its sole discretion based on the information provided.

3. Fee Agreement

Once eligibility is determined, clients receiving reduced fees will enter into a Sliding Scale Fee Agreement, which will specify:

• The agreed-upon session fee
• The duration for which the reduced fee applies
• The requirement to notify Kaur Reflections of any significant changes in financial circumstances

Sliding scale agreements are subject to periodic review, and clients may be asked to update their financial information to continue receiving reduced fees.

4. Non-Discrimination Policy

Kaur Reflections operates in compliance with all applicable laws, including the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of Alberta, and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) of Canada.

All clients are treated with dignity, respect, and fairness, regardless of their financial circumstances, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any other protected characteristic. The determination of fees is based solely on financial need and does not reflect any form of bias or favoritism.

5. Transparency and Communication

Clients who pay the full session fee of $150 will be informed of the sliding scale program upon request. However, the eligibility and approval process for sliding scale fees is strictly confidential.

Clients paying full fees acknowledge and agree that sliding scale fees are offered as part of a community service initiative and do not imply discrimination or unfair treatment.

6. Limitation of Liability

Kaur Reflections is not liable for claims or disputes arising from the sliding scale fee structure, provided that:

• Fees are determined in good faith based on the financial information provided by clients
• The same criteria are consistently applied to all clients requesting reduced fees
• Full disclosure of the sliding scale policy is available upon request

Clients acknowledge that the sliding scale fee structure is a discretionary program designed to provide community support and does not constitute an entitlement or contractual right.

7. Confidentiality

All information provided by clients for the purpose of determining eligibility for reduced fees is treated as strictly confidential. This information will be stored securely in compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of Alberta and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) of Canada.

8. Updates to Policy

Kaur Reflections reserves the right to modify this sliding scale fee policy at any time to reflect changes in business practices, professional standards, or legal requirements. The most current version of this policy will be made available to clients upon request.
