Frequently Asked Questions

If you do not see your question here, you are welcome to reach out through the contact page. Many questions can also be clarified during the consultation conversation.

People often reach out when something inside their life feels difficult to navigate alone. This may show up as persistent anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship strain, burnout, or simply a sense of feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to change.

Therapy is not only for moments of crisis. It can also be a space for thoughtful reflection, self-understanding, and meaningful personal growth. Many individuals seek therapy when they want to better understand their internal patterns, respond to life with greater clarity, or create healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

If you find yourself wanting a deeper understanding of your inner world, therapy can offer a structured and supportive place to explore that process.

A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of meaningful change. The best way to determine whether working together feels right is through a conversation.

I offer a brief consultation where we can discuss what has been bringing you here, what you are hoping to work toward, and whether my approach may be helpful for your situation. This conversation also gives you the opportunity to ask questions about the process before deciding whether you would like to move forward.

Therapy in this practice is a place to slow down, reflect, and explore the deeper patterns shaping your emotional life.

Rather than focusing only on surface-level problem solving, our work often explores the beliefs, experiences, and internal responses that influence how you relate to stress, relationships, and expectations. Through thoughtful dialogue and structured reflection, therapy can help create greater insight, emotional regulation, and clarity about how you would like to move forward in your life.

The pace of therapy is collaborative and respectful of each client’s readiness and capacity for change.

Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or biweekly, depending on your needs and goals.

Consistent sessions often allow us to build momentum and maintain continuity in the work. Over time, some clients choose to space sessions further apart as their goals evolve or as they begin integrating changes into daily life.

Most psychotherapy sessions are 50 minutes in length.

In some situations, session length may be adjusted depending on your needs and preferences. This can be discussed during the consultation or at any point during the therapeutic process.

Both psychotherapy and Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) support meaningful psychological change, but they work in different ways.

Psychotherapy is an ongoing process that allows space to explore thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences over time. It is often helpful when someone is navigating multiple areas of life or seeking sustained reflection and support.

An RTT intensive is a focused session designed to address one clearly defined internal pattern or belief. This approach works more directly with the subconscious mind and is often chosen when someone recognizes a specific reaction, habit, or belief they would like to change.

During the consultation we can discuss which approach may be most appropriate for your situation.

RTT is often helpful for individuals who:

  • recognize a specific internal pattern they would like to change
  • feel ready to explore the deeper beliefs influencing that pattern
  • prefer a focused approach addressing one issue at a time

Examples may include persistent anxiety triggers, confidence blocks, recurring self-sabotage patterns, emotional eating, or fear of visibility or success.

RTT is not intended to replace ongoing psychotherapy or medical care. For individuals seeking broader or longer-term support, psychotherapy may be the more appropriate starting point.

A nurse psychotherapist brings an integrated understanding of both psychological and medical aspects of mental health.

With nearly two decades of experience in acute, community, and emergency mental health settings, this background allows for a deeper awareness of how emotional distress, stress responses, and mental health concerns can interact with the body, environment, and life circumstances.

This perspective often supports a more holistic understanding of each client’s experience and allows therapy to be grounded in both clinical knowledge and thoughtful psychological exploration.

Yes. Confidentiality is a foundational part of the therapeutic relationship.

What you share in therapy is kept private and protected. There are specific legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality that apply to all regulated mental health professionals. These may include situations where there is an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, or where disclosure is required by law.

If such situations ever arise, they would be discussed openly and transparently.

Therapy is intended to be a space where you can speak freely, knowing that your experiences will be treated with care and respect.

Life circumstances sometimes require schedule changes. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask that you provide at least 48 hours notice so the appointment time can be offered to another client.

Cancellations made with less notice may be subject to the full session fee. Exceptions may be considered in emergency situations.

Many extended health benefit plans cover psychotherapy services provided by qualified mental health professionals. Coverage varies between insurance providers, so it is recommended that you check directly with your insurer regarding reimbursement.

Some clients choose to submit their session receipts for reimbursement or claim them as a medical expense.

RTT intensives are typically not covered by insurance plans.

This practice offers therapy for adults and older adolescents (16+) navigating challenges such as anxiety, burnout, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and emotional overwhelm.

The work is often well suited for individuals who value thoughtful reflection and are interested in understanding the deeper patterns influencing their inner world, relationships, and personal growth.

Beginning therapy is often the most difficult step, and it is natural to have questions before starting.

The first step is to schedule a brief consultation. This conversation allows us to discuss your situation, explore your goals, and determine whether psychotherapy or an RTT intensive may be the most appropriate approach.

If we decide to move forward together, we can then schedule your first session and begin the process at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive.

Starting therapy is a personal decision, and it is completely normal to have additional questions.

If there is something you would like to clarify before booking a consultation, you are welcome to reach out through the contact page. I would be happy to help you determine whether this work may be a good fit for you.
